Youth
Week is marked on Australia’s calendar as the official week for showcasing the
talents and expressions of young people, often through music & popular
culture.
In
celebration, a massive Hip Hop showcase, “MMAD Vibez”, will kick off the
event-packed week, featuring guest performers from all over Australia including
Bukkcity (featured on the Underbelly soundtrack), Mind over Matter, MMAD Moves
(twice winners of national Hip Hop competitions and trainers of So You Think
You Can Dance contestants), local talent Tycotic, 9 members from the UPRecords
Crew and Dominic Brook (heard on Triple J).
Event
Coordinator & Youth Ambassador for MMAD, Ryan Buckland, says “MMAD is a
positive movement and we want the music and artists at this event to have a
positive influence. This is the biggest under 18s Hip Hop event the Coast has
ever seen and we’re expecting a sell out.”
Performer
Dominic Brook, who is well known for his Aussie-larrikin acoustic Hip Hop
sound, adds “MMAD Vibez will be something to see - some of the guest artists
are coming straight from the red carpet of the MTV Awards to perform at the
event. The Coast’s Hip Hop culture is growing heaps and over 18’s events are
selling out. This concert will be one for the younger generation caught in the
Hip Hop movement, and Youth Week is the perfect time to put it on.”
Buckland
interrupts, remembering to add that “Sony BMG has sponsored heaps of door
prizes and giveaways for the event and Channel V are helping to launch our MMAD
Comp on the same night – it’s going to be huge.”

Services, MMAD Vibez will be held at The Hub Youth Entertainment Venue, Erina
Fair (next to the Erina Library), on March 27th from 7:00pm.

Bukkcity, this Australian Born/American raised
rapper is tearing roofs off at his gigs. The first mixtape he distributed
on the internet received over 11,000 downloads. This MC seems to attract
new crowds and sound to the Australian Hip-Hop Scene which he represents.
Currently living in Melbourne, the MC can’t wait to rock an under 18’s gig.

Mind over Matter are one of Sydney City’s
prominent hip-hop groups. Regarded as extremely successful in the underground
