From:Wayne Langdon <wlangdon @......com>

I would be extremely interested in this topic myself. I'm a rank beginner
on the Dobro but have been playing 5 string banjo Scruggs style for going on
5 years.
I have a brand new Regal RD-45 MS with the Quarterman cone. I love the
sound of the instrument. BUT I was wondering what I could expect if I
changed out the solid maple bridge inserts with something like on banjo
bridges. For instance maple with an ebony top or maple with ebony top and
bone inserts. Does anyone even make them? How about that tension screw on
the cone? What effect does that have on tone and volume. I am not a
tinkerer per se and I really like the tone that this instrument can produce
(could use a bit more volume in the lower registers) but I would like to
know what I can expect should I decide to start tinkering...
