Hey Listers,
The search for "the perfect bridge material", wow, now there's a thread for
discussion for ya. I've got some bridge blanks a fella made for me from
different types of wood, (to me, wood is just "wood", but whaddo I know??)
There's something called "mystery wood" and a couple of others called "blood
wood" a sorta red colored wood. My preferences so far seem to run to ebony caps on
hard maple, altho I have played guitars set up with plain hard maple inserts.
Dick tells me he uses ebony on some of his instruments and that's what "Blackie
DeNeve" who is a really good sounding guitar has. I wouldn't dream of changeing
anything on that guitar, Dick, it's great just the way I got it!! I learned long
ago to not "fix" anything that isn't already broken.........
This latest Sho-Bro I described in my last post kinda lends itself to
"experimentation" due to the way it's cover plate is made without a palm
rest. I don't have all that much time to mess around with different combinations
but if I hit on something I think is worth shareing, I'll be sure to post it.
