Wayne, there is a Regal player in the Jon Shane Band (Durham/Chapel Hill NC) (www.jonshane.com) who absolutely rocks out live with his Regal. He plays it through several foot amp controls and the music is folk/blues/rock with a little BG thrown in. The cds are more about Jon's singing, and they are very good, but I've seen them live twice and John Currie absolutly slays 'em with his Regal. Heads turn when he turns it up, just like a flock of geese watching a bunch of corn thrown in the air.

John's Regal has been set up by Tut's son at Crafters of Tennesse and has a Quartermain cone. John does not need to upgrade his instrument. He just needs to get Jon to feature his playing more prominently on the cds.

John Currie's dobro would enhance the Jon Shane Band's cds the same way Jerry's does Alison and Union Station and Rob's does Blue Highway.

By the way I got Junior Barber's Steffi's Waltz last week. That cd is still in the car cd player, going round and round with me, days later. Man, this a georgeous instrument with some fabulous players all over.

Dewy and Ken validated what I already suspected. Tut Taylor setup huh? Very cool. I think I'll leave my Hot Rodded Regal the way it is. I'm surprised that she is "maturing" and really starting to open up. I wouldn't have thought that of an off the shelf Regal RD-45. I'm almost certain part of it is me becoming more comfortable with the Reso and my technique is improving but it still is a surprise to hear her become more rich and open like that.
Regardless. Santa is arriving this afternoon on a UPS truck with a new Gibson F-60S. I am needless to say, all atwitter. :-))
