Over time and with over-use (which is all too common) they can migrate
through the wood and under inlays and finishes. I can put you in touch with

Having said that, I don't want to get into an extended discussion on the
merits of fingerboard treatments. A number of companies that manufacture
such treatments recommend their use, along with some instrument
manufacturers. Use them or not as you prefer. With proper use it is
unlikely you will have problems. Or you could just save your money.
