For that matter why are Reso fret boards fretted at all when fretting isn't
an issue? I'll bet it's because that pounding in brass fret wire is cheaper
/ faster than inlaying / painting fret markers..
I AM going to check out the walnut / sesame oil. The guy that built my
custom banjo said to use Lemon oil when the rosewood appears to be drying
out. I also used it on my brand spankin new F-60 Dobro. The rosewood has
such a pretty figure in it but out of the box it was very dry and a small
amount of lemon oil applied with a Q-tip brought that gorgeous figure right
out.
