Sensitivity to the higher frequencies is lost with age. Also of course from
over exposure, along with side effects like tinnitus. Unfortunately,
musicians and sound engineers frequently fail to take proper care of their
hearing, and sound engineers routinely compensate for hearing losses when
designing monitor systems.
