Since I started that last thread about saddles and bridge inserts I just
wanted to extend my thank you on list to those that responded with
suggestions and instructions on how to accomplish the change out.
Thanks to Ken Brown for his string suggestions, Dewey Slide Well and
Richard DeNeve for the detailed instructions both on and off list.
The new maple and ebony inserts arrived yesterday along with 3 sets each of
D'Addario FT-13 and J-42 strings. I took a deep breath printed out your
helpful instructions and took my guitar apart! Sweating bullets all the
while that I wouldn't screw things up.. A couple of hours of sanding and
fitting of the new inserts. This morning I put it all back together,
graphited the nut and bridge slots and strung it up with the FT-13s.
HOLY COW! What a difference! Quantum leap in volume and tone! This thing
is so responsive now it boggles what little mind I have left. Sweet, up and
down the neck. It can rattle glasses off the table with the bass response
and the highs and mid ranges are right there with it. Now if I could just
play the durn thing. Makes me want to go run and find someone to put some
notes in it for me. I was just playing Dark Hollow and this thing is so
sweet sounding now it brings tears to the eyes.
Thanks again to all that responded. I am in your debt.
