Wayne, one thing I learnt from a fest buddy was to use a chopstick, or two of
them, and gently rotate the spyder/cone left or right a 16th or so, to see if
that helps reduce certain buzzes.
Given you haven't spoken about a leveled cone, a leveled spyder legs, and such,
I'll assume they are not an issue and it's likely your buzz IS from the new
insets, either at the seat in the spyder slots or in the notches for the strings?
I am REAL excited to hear about your experience with the improvement in sound
for the EBONY (hear me twang Richie) tipped bridges (and real glad to hear how
the slots are prepped by Beard, love that company), and by doing my own work,
I'll be certain they don't get cut too short like the first two times I let hack
luthiers do it.
A cheapo Johnson I have, and I'll make it the best yet. N then, it's a Gold
Tone. N then, who knows. 2006 looks good for new toys for Larue!!! <GRIN>
Of course, then, I'll be able to tune one of them to D, n need some help with
THAT! ;-)
I've been listenin to a lot of rockabilly/countrybilly stuff lately on some
internet stations. Them egg slicers sure give pause for how to do THAT stuff on a
reso . . . . the reso goes on forever, and the learning never ends!!!! lololol
