Subject: [RESOGUIT-L] Thanks guys
As far as modifications are concerned, along with the Q-cone, the
ebony/maple inserts and the bone nut, I also "opened" the soundwell. That
was crudely performed with a circular curring device I had with my dremel.
It changed the sound rather dramatically. The instrument is now noticeably
louder. To my ears it sounds better without the screen holes. (before, with
or without the screen holes made non difference) There is more bass, the
guitar sounds less banjo-like. (thank heavens!)
One funny thing I noticed while experimenting (now you are going to think
I've gone mad) is that if you put tissues to obstruct the soundholes it
filters the sound and it gives you a Scheerhorn-like bass. I'm not saying
that it sounds as good as a Scheehorn that way but that's what the sound
reminded me of. Some brands sound better than others though ;o)
Has anybody else tried to to something similar?
Yann
