Dick, I can see where measuring the amount of light being emitted through the
holes on the cover plate would give one the answer as far as which type cover
plate has the most open area. I suppose if both cover plates were exactly the
same size including thickness and diameter, then merely weighing each of them
should give us the answer. The one weighing the less would have the most open
area. When it's all said and done, I'm wondering if any negligible difference in
the open area would cause any noticible difference in the loudness of the guitar.
Of course, soundwaves can not only be reflected, but they can be bent. I guess
this stands to reason for the need of 2 round screenholes or f holes on most
resophonics. Very interesting subject to be sure.
