Hi Tom,
thanks for the decisive input. I have been mulling it around quite a bit and
most people do speak highly of the Goldtone PBS resonators. The Regal brand
resonators seem to get pretty good reviews as well; depending on just how much
you spend. Though, I believe it was in a post from Dewey, that stated; if you
take the time to setup any resonator guitar properly, even the cheap ones can
sound pretty dam good (mind you now, I am paraphrasing his astute observations
and advice). So now I have to decide whether or not I would rather spend money
and supposedly get a guitar that is "shop setup" right out of the box great! Or,
save some dollars and be prepared to tweak away! Boy, I have thought myself right
back into a corner...
Wish there was someplace close by that I could try out all my options side by
side and then decide. Being that I am not living in a state that resonator
guitars are common place, it is difficult to find any instrument stores that
carry more than one really cheap, or one extremely exspensive resonator at a
time. Kind of aggravating to have so many good choices online; but no single
place to go and compare them all! Maybe I'll just flip a coin... or a Dobro!
Think I need a good nights sleep to think things over.
