To my ears the ebony caps give a bit more punch and are brighter-sounding than
the
plain maple. American cherry inserts sound much the same to me.
As I recall the Stew-Mac bridge comes in one piece and has to be cut up, whereas
the
Beard is already in two halves. You can buy the Beard ones ready-slotted too,
which I
don't think is an option that Stew-Mac offer.
