I'm surprised you fellas have Banjos that stay in tune as well as Sq. Neck
Resos. I came to Reso-guitar from Steel Guitar and there's a good case for using
a Chromatic Tuner lemmetellya! My dbl 10 push n pull Emmons with her aluminum
necks, would I swear, go almost instantly a 1/2 tone sharp or flat depending on
whether the bar's, oops I'm sorry, on whether the VENUE'S air-conditioning was
on or off. I had one of the first Korg WT10A's in my area, that if I remember
correctly I must've bought back around 1978 or so. Once you had my Emmons in
the venue and set up, she'd usually stabilize in the first 1/2 hour or so, but
in the meantime, it could get really interesting.........anyways, I developed the
ability to tune really fast back in those days.
I remember when I got into Reso-guitar back 8 or 9 years ago, I hooked up with a
little band and one of our first gigs was outside, (remember now, I'm a "gin
mill" indoor player to this point, here) and I was very favorably impressed with
how my first Sho-Bro, "Sally" handled the whole thing. Quite frankly, when I
opened the case and the bright hot sun hit that coverplate, I didn't know what to
expect! Today, with a little more experience, both of what I consider my
"working guitars", Blackie DeNeve, and "Sadie" #3 Sho-Bro are both very
stable, Blackie being the better of the two.
I consider myself lucky.......to be the owner-player of those two guitars. What
fun!
