Subject:Re: [RESOGUIT-L] Cavorting In Cowtown!

Rat, merck, thanks for the shouts.

I can't do the clip thing, but, I'll post my thoughts, for sure.

I've got my Johnson import so revved up and hotrodded, it's incredible that this
lil laminate can out shout n slay a banjer or two, as Twangs is fond of sayin
about his 'Blackie' Deneve. <grin>

$300 for the Johnson. N it was set up LOUSY, by the importer, and the shop I
bought it thru. They had NO clue about nut and insert heighths, n neither did the
first phreakin luthier I went to with my QC-1 cone, REAL Beard made maple/ebony
tip inserts.

But, a luthier later, a leveled spyder, a good bone nut, and finally a right
heighth insert set (this is when I started my own work), and some dremel work on
a few soundwell holes to open them up a bit.

THIS puppy now has this growl it NEVER had, and it's LOUD! Decent tone across
the board, but, I like the treble side of life, and if I have warm, I want it to
be a LOUD warm, hence my choice of John Pearse Silver Wounds.

If I could do more, and I will, I'll get a shorter and denser tail piece (and
one for the Beard GT Maple Deluxe, too), and open up that bottom part of my cover
plate, and maybe take a little more out of some of the bass side sounewell holes
towards the tailpiece.

Can't wait for the Beard GT Deluxe, can't wait to see his internal stuff, can't
wait to hear it, play it, and love it as a step up.

It should be all my Johnson is now, with a more pronounced tone and more warmth
across the frequencies, and I'll bet, it's a tad louder, too. That's MY
anticipation. N gee, I get to mess with it a bit, too (not too much, don't wanna
mess with why I bought it!).

I'll let all y'all know how it is . . . tappin my fingers in cowtown. <wink>
Hmmmm . . . . wonnert if I can get Chet's cell phone . . . I'd call him tonite if
I could . . . . <grin> JUST KIDDIN POOB!!!
