Having owned both, I can tell you that the Regal has a much nicer finish, but,
that's not the most important thing. The thing is the sound! My brand new Liberty
had a Quarterman cone and bone nut, but, still, lacked even a decent sound. A
Regal, say the RD45, has a good-looking finish, and, being up-graded, gives a
good sound........still. I'm sure, not like the Beard Gold Tone or the
Wechter-Sheerhorn, but, that gets into $200 to $400 more money. I, personally,
could not recommend the Liberty. If I were starting over, knowing the little bit
that I know, I would buy a Beard Gold Tone from Beard.............not a Gold Tone
from someone else (there is a difference, as has been pointed out here many
times.) A couple of hundred dollars may hurt a bit going in, but, next year,
you'll be glad, and, you won't miss that $200 or so. Ted Hudson

I would appreciate some advice. Im looking at an entry level dobro,
many web sites stress the virtues of the Regal 45 with Quarterman cone
upgrade pkg (i.e. from Folk of the Wood). How would that compare to
the Liberty Model MAHSQ100?
