Hugh, the basic upgrade to any reso goes a bit like this, only, I ain't a
luthier:
Get a maple tipped bridge set (porvided yer a soundwell guy), and get them cut
tall enuff to put pressure on the cone (just buy bridges, n don't touch them,
from Beard, once you called them and talked about some of the measure ments on
YER git).
Make sure you got a bone nut, cut to the right height (just order from Beard, n
never mind the heighth less yer reso is all phooked up, then, you'll need to
start measurin with calipers), n slotted right, to match yer bridges.
Make sure you got a good cone, QC-1, or Beard, and the spider legs are leveled.
Make sure yer cone screw is at the right tension.
There's more, much more, but, the bottom line is get a good luthier, who KNOWS
this stuff, and can DO any of this, to upgrade yer git.
I went thru 3 luthiers before I bought Beard parts and did some stuff myself.
N it was on a cheap reso. Good learning all the way, but, man, ya gotta measure,
and learn about stuff, n parts, n luthiers, before you can do this stuff yer
self.
To avoid all this, buy a git direct from Beard, it's the easiest way to get a
good git, at any lowball price out there, that's set up the way you need it set
up.
I'm here to tell ya!!!! N I'm 4 years into all of this, this list, and the
luthier stuff and the playng stuff.
I'm stiill a rookie at all-though . . . .<smile>
