I've never had a problem at all with fingerpicks moving around. What would
cause a need for resin in your fingerpicks?

Panic, and the resulting sweaty fingers. They pop off like fizz-wine corks.
I use hard liquor to keep mine in place. :D
And it's good for other situations too. Just don't spill it in the cone.
Some folks (like Matt) practice to avoid this problem.
