Hi all,
This is Claudio, a new member on this list. I play guitar since '78, harmonica
since '02 and mandolin since '04. I play in several bands, and one of them is a
blues band. In that band I play harmonica and slide (electric) guitar. We're
starting to get some acoustic gigs, and therefore I'm trying to convince my
girlfriend that a resophonic guitar "has" to be bought in order to play at those
gigs. While walking in a local guitar store I noticed a Gibson DM33H hanging on
the wall with a price tag of 1500 Euro (about $1800). What? Keep in mind that
here in Italy Gibsons cost 1.5 times their price in the US. I've watched the
guitar more carefully and I've noticed a bump on the body. It is on the lower
bout and it is very visible (about 2 cm wide), but the metal doesn't show any
crack. Is this still a good price? Do this kind of defects affect the overall
structure of the guitar? How is the DM33H considered by reso players?
Ciao,
Claudio
