Somewhere, I got a vinyl cut, with maybe Tut Taylor, and or Norman, on it.
Grant N Ginger Boatwright.
A Red, White N Bluegrass album. Album liner is cut wierd, great colors on it,
circa, oh, say, um, maybe, 1972 or so?
I'll let the, ahem, MORE ELDER folks in here claim the dates and what not . . .
. ;-)
N I'm NOT gonna go rummage to find it to quote it . .
My point?
Ginsing Sullivan is one heck of a great song, always has been and takes some
'acumen' to make it work and happen, with that nice key change built into it.
I found a Tony Rice version of it, with him sanging, I'm pretty sure. Lord how
that man could sing and I never knew . . . I only knew him from David Grisman
Quintet, back in the 70's . . . had no idea he was a grasser back then . . . .
glad I know now . . . this list was part of me learning that, too, so, thanks.
The cut I speak of is off of Manzanita, a much well lauded project for sure.
It has killer dobro work on it, too . . . . . I need to go buy that Manzanita, I
do (yes, I got a LOT of holes in my music still ain't filled, but, I bet I got
some stuff no one in here has, not that it's a competition . . . . ). <grin>
N I gotta go find that Grant N Ginger Boatwright version of Ginsing Sullivan,
too, on cd, cuz it was 35 years ago I bought it, and 31 years ago since I
listened to it, and it still calls to me.
Aint it funny, how a song, a lick, an artist, a band, a reso, can call our name,
n just plain get under our skin and stay there.
Snap, snap, as the beatniks did . . . . snap, snap. It's kewl. N it twangs, too.
;-)
Aint it funny how music n this twang can call to us in the most unexpected
moments of our daily rituals . . . . <smile>
