Hi Guys and gals,
I want to thank all of you who continue to send me lists of music to listen
to. What a wonderful and supportive group you all are. It is making a
difference in my life and in my understanding resso music. I welcome your
input
any time.
I have another question that I hope some of you may be able to shine a
light
on.
I will be planning a trip to Euclid Ohio ( just outside of Cleveland)
sometime this year to see my 83 year old mom. I'm disconnected to the
bluegrass
music scene out that way and would love to plan the trip around a festival
or
some sort of good musical venue.
Mom, has never been to a music festival, but, during her visit to our place
in Oakland Ca for Xmas, I played the DVD, Down From The Mountain. (
celebrating the music from the movie O Brother.)
Well, I think Pennsylvania born mom (who's father was a coal miner) doesn't
know it, but she is really connected to this music. Its just been lying
dormant in her bones!
While watching that flick, she lit up with so much energy and never took
her
eyes off of the screen! She sparkled ( if you know what I mean) the whole
evening. I couldn't help but take note of this and have been wondering how
I
might introduce her to more of it this kind of music. (unfortunately, she
(and
we ) didn't grow up with this music in the house so she is not very
familiar
with it.)
I think it would be wonderful to take mom to see some live music somewhere.
She still likes to travel but is slow at getting around. She wouldn't
camp,
I would need a hotel/motel for her. But we will rent a car and I could
drive 3-4 hours one way with her being ok with it.
Does anyone have any ideas on a place, event, festival for this year, that
is not so far away from Cleveland, where I can take my mom to hear some
great
music ?
Thanks in advance for any help on this you may have,
best,
Linda
