Hi Everyone,
Regarding the Jr. Barber Album "Stone Bottom Boogie", one of my prized
possesions is an autographed copy of this great cd. Quite awhile back when I was
just getting started in bluegrass and Pine Hill Ramblers was just getting
"serious" about being a real band, I walked into Ben's house a little early
for a rehearsal and heard this wonderful dobro player. "Wow! Who's that guy?"
and the ans. was "It's the guy who plays with the Gibson Bros." I gotta admit,
I shamelessly copied the album onto cassette, untill I could buy a copy. I met
Jr. shortly after at one of our better festivals and nice guy that he is, he came
to our campsite and I showed him the two Sho-Bros (both round necks), that I had
at that time. A friend took our picture and that's how I came to share a page in
Josh's tribute album with Jr.
The point of all of this is, if enough interest was shown by the list members,
maybe Jr. who quite frequently quietly monitors this list, would consider haveing
some more copies made of this wonderful cd.
How about it listers, is there enough interest? Show of hands even? How about
it Jr., are you hearing this??
Texas Moonbeam Waltz from this cd is STILL one of the prettiest melodies I've
ever heard. I confess I about drove Jr. nuts by my constant requests for him to
play this whenever our path's crossed. I've since learned to play this tune, but
Jr. doesn't have anything to worry about from me....geez!
I think I own about every Junior Barber cd that I'm aware of, altho I don't have
too much of the Gibson Brothers. I love to play along with any of Jr.s cds. I
find it a great practice aid, and a lot of fun.
Twangs,
Richie Chiasson
