Reminds me of a lesson I taught in my physics class last Spring. I had my
reso and my wife's fiddle and was attempting to show how different
instruments sound different even at the same note due to overtones. A fellow
teacher was in the room so I asked if he could help. I patiently showed him
where to put his finger and how to draw the bow. Don acte like he'd never
seen a fiddle before, then tried another note, then another, then broke into
some hot instrumental Bluegrass number while I tried my best to keep up. The
kids loved it.

I forget his name) told me about a show gag that he and Gene Wooten worked
up to use when one or the other would be in the audience. He was a lefty,
and, had a lefty guitar. The one who was on stage would ask for a volunteer
who wanted to learn to play, then pick their 'volunteer', Wooten or the
other guy (according to who was on stage) would walk up on the other side of
the reso and 'learn' rather quickly and play well...........he said it
always went over well with the crowd. Ted Hudson...........oh, yes, please,
someone out there tell who this James Monroe lefty might have been?
