Went to the local jam yesterday. A fellow had a 7-string ShoBro. First time I'd
seen this particular instrument at the jam. It had the typical ShoBro
"tailpiece pooch-in," (or "dobro plumber's cleavage") and the top was a bit
wavy. The fretboard was light metallic gray plastic instead of the usual white
with card suits. I didn't really get to hear how it sounded. The guy said he
had it in a G6 tuning. I intended to go back later an ask him to let me pick
it, but I got involved in, ahem, drinking beer instead and forgot all about it.
Maybe it'll show up again.
We don't see many of these things in these parts. I made all of my quaffing
colleagues walk over and take a look at it, explaining first the relative
rarity of the beast. I hope he brings it back again...
