Hey Ken,
How was the plastic on the thing? Three of my four Sho-Bros have horrible
Gretsch binding, to the point where I had to have the binding replaced on my
favorite "Sadie". For whatever reason, the luthier decided Sadie's top should
be sunburst to match her sunburst sides and he did an excellent job of this.
Then since she's no longer original....(actually greatly improved with Q cone,
etc.) I took a final step and had her fading logo......inlaid......in M.O.P.
She's a nice guitar and a SUPER GREAT field picking instrument.
I've seen few 7 strings, which I understand Shot played, and I've never seen
that light metalic grey plastic fretboard you described. My two sq. necks both
have the white background with black painted frets.....etc. Sophie my last
Sho-Bro has excellent plastic.....evidently is a later model..... as the serial #
is ona paper sticker under the bass soundscreen.....rather than stamped on
backside of the peghead like the others are. Sophie is also a sound post or
open bodied guitar, and in spite of this, she's not as loud as you'd think.
Interesting guitar tho....in fact I was just practicing with her before checking
and seeing your email. Sophie also has a slightly wider neck and I think she
could've gone either way, depending on what was on backorder......(a 6 or a 7
string guitar)......when her last coat of finish dried, lol.
Unfortunatley for my Sho-Bros, "Blackie" DeNeve has locked them all in the
closet......altho Sadie with her new binding, etc., keeps kicking the closet door
open!
Twangs buddy,
Richie
ps, I finally gave in and orderd 2 doz. sets of phos. bronze from Euphanon Co.,
for a ridiculous low price and "Blackie" seems to absolutely LOVE 'em!
