Even a few of us who dream of being on stage have some good stories. At the
weekly jam, I got the nod for a break on Remmington Rag. On the first lick,
the .018 B string popped out of the bridge, thus putting it out of tune and
out of its usual spot. Often times, especially on "hot" numbers, I've had my
thumb pick decide to spin around on me. I've also popped a finger pick off
here and there.
At an open mic night, I was all set to do a big ensamble on "Will the Circle
Be Unbroken" in A. I decided to use my lap steel tuned to C6, but for some
strange reason, I forgot it was in C6. Yep, sounded horrible. Realized my
mistake right after the song ended, but I didn't show my face again for
several weeks.
