Here in Boise we have the dude who invented the glass fretboard fretless
guitar - his name is Ned Evett and he absolutely kills on this thing. I
just ran sound for him on Saturday night and he has a knockoff steel bodied
dobro with a glass fretless fretboard on it (obviously roundneck) that
sounds amazingly cool with the resonator mixed with the glass fretboard.
Not only does he tear it up, but he holds the resonator in front of him,
sings scat style over the cone through the pickup and loops it. If you ever
get a chance to hear him, check it out - it'll blow you away.
There sure are a lot of cool original players out there, and some totally
whacked ideas that work really, really well.
