Hi all
I don't often get on here but the use of a hand rest intrigued me. I use the
cover plate hand rest most of the time, but I also play the reso up on the neck
where the neck meets the body. It is a more mellow sound that I use when I play
other songs than bluegrass. It allows me to play classical music as it was
intended to be played, and also many Christian songs. I use a square neck guitar
called Juliet, made by Gary Chansler. I am extremely fortunate to have this
guitar. It may not be the best looking but the sounds I can get from it are
magical. I first started slide guitar with a lap steel in the early 60's, then
went to a pedal steel also, and about 7 years ago added a reso. My favorite of
the 3 is now the reso. I could go on and on about the versatility of the reso but
the fact is you can play much more than bluegrass and country.
