I haven't heard Ickes rendition so I can't say. The tune was written by
Stephen Foster so it HAS to be in the public domain. I've got a great
recording of the Nashville Bluegrass Band doing it. I've heard Rosanne Cash
and others perform it on the Transatlantic Sessions and I think (always a
dangerous proposition) the Stanley Brothers recorded it. I'll see if I
can't find a copy of that book.
