Doc is still alive at 92, Chickie suffered a stroke a number of
years ago, and the last I heard was in a nursing home.
I used to go to their shows when they came to Vermont
every march. They had "Crazy Elmer" with them at the time
back in the 1960's.
I had the privelige of playing a couple of sets with them
on Dobro about 20 years ago, along with a couple of other
musicians, as they needed a pickup band.
I learned to play guitar from a "Doc Williams Guitar Course".
that I bought from WWVA. This was before I took up the
Dobro.
My birthday is the same as Chickie's. (Also the same as
Charlie Moore, Jim McReynolds, and Jainis Lewis of the
Lewis Family. NOT the same year though.) Cool Huh ?
Doc has a website at www.docwilliams.com Jim
