Hi Everyone,

Well I've finally come down to earth enough to tell you all I had a reso-tastic
(is that a word even?) time at Thomas Point Beach!

I saw fellow lister Randy Goetz, traveling with builder Bobby Wolfe. I played
at least three of Bobby Wolfe's "ported guitars" and he has one absolutely lovely
instrument that he used Turquoise stones for the fret markers. Absolutely
lovely! That guitar "spoke" to me, saying "buy me Richie and we'll have soooo
much fun", but I spoke right back and said "find someone YOUNGER to seduce", so
the lovely instrument with it's exotic wood and lovely Turquoise embelishments,
went right back home with Bobby, much to Blackie DeNeve, and Sadie, and Sophie
Sho-Bros' relief! Whew!

Nice guitar Bobby......now..... about that Senior Discount we were
discussing.......???

I helped to introduce a couple of lovely young....(folks, to me, EVERY-one is
young)......ladies to the joys of reso-picking. I told one gal, (she already
played guitar and new chord groups, etc.) that I could have her playing in 15
minutes. She looked somewhere between curious and amused, untill I reminded her
the reso-guitar is generally tuned to G, so if you put the bar down on the 5th
fret.....what would you play? A thoughtful frown, and the answer C? "Right!"
says I, "now where would you find a D chord?" "Why on the seventh fret of
course!" was the now confident answer. "Right again" says I, "so there's the key
of C, and you're playing 3 chord songs already, in the key of G, and that took
wayyyy less than 15 minutes now didn't it??" You shoulda seen the look on her
face.......it took more time to show her how the thumb & finger picks worked, then it did to show her where the chords were.......lol.

She went right out and bought a Regal Black Lightning, and I showed her a few
more basic moves.....(and I mean on the GUITAR, before Larue, Tom Foote, & Jim Warren mistake my good intentions).......

Pine Hill Ramblers gave a decent accounting of ourselves, if I do say so myself,
and at the "grand finale" & closing ceremonies, all the band members still around were asked to be onstage, and I found myself standing next to a smiling Dell McCoury & his band! Now that was a thrill, lemmetellya!

Folks, Thomas Point Beach, in the New England Area, is to me, "the" biggest
festival of them all, and after last weekend if I never play another gig again, I
can say I've "been there and done it pretty much all".......(and I've got the tee
shirt (veddy pricey).....with the bands name on the back......to PROVE it!!

Twangs n grins,

Richie
