I did not want to get too far into details, but will add this:
I am running Windows 98SE, and had no problems through Total Recorder Ver 5.3,
the version issued before 6.0, the current release.
TR has two basic methods of recording, "via software," and "via soundcard."
The first is direct recording from the input and does not introduce any
translation losses caused by the sound card.
The second records the sound card output, and _may_ be affected by any
translation losses.
I was unable to record via software when using 6.0, which meant I could not use
a significant software mode feature, closing of internet transmission gaps. The
program I mainly record using TR has recently been plagued by gaps and glitches,
making listening to the recordings unpleasant. I therefor reverted to 5.3, since
I had saved the 5.3 download file. Other than that, I have had no problems using
TR.
