Once again, I will be hosting a dobro party at IBMA. Here are the
particulars:
Who: All dobro fiends
When: Thursday, Sept. 28, 2:00-4:00 pm
Where: California Bluegrass Association (CBA) Hospitality Suite, in the
Renaissance Hotel
(Note: I'll be posting the exact room number of the CBA suite when I get
it, but it should be easy to find -- they'll have just one hospitality suite
in the Renaissance this year.)
It's a great opportunity to hang out with your dobro pals, meet some new
ones, complain loudly about the beer selection, jam a little, check out
other instruments, show off your own, etc. (Yes, I know some of you won't
be at IBMA until Friday, but this is a time that works well for both me and
the CBA, and it occcurs during a pre-awards-show lull in the schedule...)
Last year's party featured a great jam that included Andy Hall, Billy
Cardine, Rich Arnold, Todd Livingston, Brad Harper, Ivan Rosenberg, Henrich
Novak, and more. Luthiers that dropped by included Paul Beard, Tim
Scheerhorn, Brad Harper, Hiroshi Suda, and Tooter Meredith. Other
distinguished guests included Jerry Douglas and John Dopyera. I'm thinking
Mike Auldridge was there for awhile, but don't see evidence of that in my
photos.
