Subject:Re: [RESOGUIT-L] Cones
Date:Friday, September 15, 2006  08:48:14 (-0400)
From:John Deboalt <jfdeb @..........com>

I took my Deneve apart about a month ago. I wanted to replace the maple
bridge with an ebony top type. I had never had this guitar apart, and it
had been set up by Gene Wooten back in 92 or there abouts. Except for some
crud, and dust bunnies, the cone looked fine. Nice, and square on the
edges, and no dents. The problem I had turned out to be in the spider.
The bridge slot width was only about .100 wide. The inserts I ordered were
to the current .125 width. Fortunatly, Dick Deneve was kind enough to sell
me a new sipder made with the .125 slot width. Of course I ruined one
bridge insert trying to sand it down to fit the old spider. I have the
guitar back together now, and it sounds better than ever, old cone, and all.

John
