Quoting Lynn Oliver <chief06@verizon.net>:
"Why not get your own mic and learn how to work with it to get the sound you
want? The AKG C1000s is reasonably priced and sounds good with dobro."
=> I agree with Lynn's suggestion. If you're running your own sound, that's a
good way to go, and I often run my C1000S through the Baggs Para-Acoustic so I
can have some control over volume and EQ right at the mike stand (it helps, if
you're working in a tight space and can't get back to the board easily).
If you're playing a festival or something and someone else is running the
sound, well, you're pretty much at their mercy. Sound guys sometimes get testy
when you bring in your own equipment and insist on using it. In my experience,
in that situation, most of the time you just use what they've got and bite the
bullet.
