As does David Lindley.
If I'll be playing a lot of rhythm, I may use the third fingerpick in order to
grab a chord with three fingers and use the thumb for the bass. That's just one
of the varied rhythmic techniques I'll use. It's safer -- with regards to
keeping your picks on -- than strumming back across the strings with your
fingerpicks.
Which reminds me: does anyone have a great way to have a spare pick waiting for
immediate use when the one you're strumming with lands in the front seat of the
audience?
