Subject:Re: [RESOGUIT-L] Josh tributes at IBMA

From:Jim Warren <dobro @........net>

A very fitting thing do do. I remember another fella who passed on
at the time of the IMBA gathering when it was in Louisville. Pete(Bashful
Brother Oswald)
Kirby. Lister and pre-war Dobro collector Randy Getz informed me of his
passing, which had just been announced from the main stage. Randy
wanted to know if he brought one of his prize pre-wars to my suite, if I would
play him some of Os's songs. He and luthier Bobby Wolfe came up and
it was the best two person audience anyone could ask for. A very somber
and moving time for sure. A lot of playing, little talking....
Josh was another one of my heros. one of the small handfull of players
who kept the instrument alive so that the present generation could continue
with it. I remember he would always at some time during his performances
in later years, would ask any players in the audience to come to the stage
and take turns playing Dobro with him. Not many nowadays would bother.
R.I.P. Josh. You are now re-united with Lester again...................
Jim Warren
