I'd like to share some memories of Uncle Josh---------
My first recall of Josh is watching him on T.V. when I was about 9 or
10--not knowing
exactly what a Dobro was at the time---He would step up to the mike, hike
that thing up in the rear, neck way down and tear into a solo---Well I thought
that Josh and that instrument was about the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Some
years later I bought my first Dobro.
The first time I saw Josh in person was at a little country store not far
from my home in N.C.
He was visiting a friend of his and came to this store to pick with the
locals.
I introduced myself as a Dobro player and told him how he had inspired me.
The next thing
I know he handed me his R.Q. Jones guitar and said "Here play this thing a
while"
so I did. Thrill--------------
Lastly I played in a Reso contest here in N.C. and Josh was involved in it .
He actually
sat in a chair on stage not 4ft. from where I stood to play. Just a little
intimidating , but I did O.K. --won 3 rd. place.
Thanks Josh---------->>>> Jim Boren
