Shubb has a new "Robert Randolph" model steel. Judging from the picture (I
haven't yet seen one in the flesh, I mean in the brass), these are generically
similar to the Stevens steel, differing in shape in a coup[le of small ways.
They are 3.25 inches long.
However, the biggest difference is probably the weight. One model weighs 6.25 oz
and the other weighs 7.5 oz, significantly heavier than the standard 5.4 oz bar
most of us probably use. They're chrome-plated brass. I'm thinking these could
be used on dobro as well as the lap steel that it was presumably designed for.
I'd like to try one of these out, especially the larger model. Anybody on the
list seen one of these yet?
