Ken,
Jim's comment helped me figure this out. I had never
been able to do this, either, until his comments got
me experimenting.
Apparently the very first time you want to do this,
you need to choose "enhancements," then "play speed
settings." The secret is in being able to find how to
make these settings.
1) Make sure you are in windows media player, not
some other player.
2) Click on the upper left button, "now playing."
3) At the bottom left side of the large screen is a
small icon "info center view". Click on this.
4) Now you can go to the "enhancements" and "play
speed" settings Jim mentioned. I also clicked on the
"common speed settings" to remove the check mark, so I
can play any speed between .5X and 2X. Otherwise you
are stuck with only about 5 preset speeds.
5) Now, whenever you have a song on, if you hit the
"now playing" button, the speed adjustment slider will
appear. Slide it to the speed you want.
Jim,
Is there a way to "clip" and repeat a short segment of
a tune, like the Joe Smith break Vern Young's version
of "Give me the flowers while I'm Living," which just
played as I'm typing this? I'd like to play it over
several times to milk what I can out of it without
having to drag back the song progress slider at the
bottom of the screen.
Thanks for helping me finally figure this out.
