Quoting Rod Trail <rtrail1245@hotmail.com>:
"I never heard of a record by Jerry called 'Dreadful Snakes'."
=> As Scott Shank has already pointed out, this was released on Rounder in 1984,
and the record is called "Snakes Alive!" The Dreadful Snakes were basically a
pickup band that played on occasion at the Station Inn in Gnashville.
The Dreadful Snakes: Snakes Alive!
Rounder 0177
Released 01/01/1984
Several tracks from this record have been released on various other Rounder or
Easydisc compilations, but as far as I know, this is the only record they've
ever made. By the way, it's one of the all-time great bluegrass recordings, and
everybody should own it. In my opinion, it easily falls into the Desert Island
category (you know, the ten CDs you'd take with you if the Asian bird flu hit
and....). "Who's That Knockin' At My Door" is an absolute classic. Great
Enright vocals, great Douglas dobro, heck, great everything!
Incidentally, Rod, every message I get from you is blank because you're using
HTML formatting. The only reason I could see what was in this message is that I
discovered I could read the text after (and only after) hitting "reply." It
would be a good idea if you'd turn the HTML formatting off.
