actually, falling off the stage is a good idea... I told my
band the entire
10 years I played with them that being good pickers wasn't
enough.. you
have to entertain the audience.. and, hey, falling off the
stage is a hard
act to follow... but, falling works... look what it did for
the career of
notables like Viktor Borge, Jerry Ford .... and almost me
I got a substitute gig one time back in the Boston area when I
was
home for the summer from college at a folk-oriented coffee house.
the sign outside said 'Peter Childs" (relatively well known
folksinger
from Cambridge) and nobody changed it.. sigh-h-hh.,.. I was on
a tall-ish bar stool and a rear leg was 1/2 off the stage... when
a guy came up from the audience and told me about it.. said he'd
been anxious about it for the last 2 songs.. LAST 2 SONGS!!
YIKES!! nothing
like moving quickly to head off disaster.. in any case, I
moved the stool
and didn't dump my 1928 round neck Dobro.. well, it would have
been a spectacular fall because I'd've gone over backwards
a** over teakettle against the wall.. sigh-h-hhh
