Oh, Pete, you can do better than that.  Off bass indeed!
 
But I agree that it is an interesting exercise to move the instrument around a
microphone.  The variation in tone from the cone or sound holes is astounding.

More like "off bass" I'd say. Play your reso and put your ear near the cone,
then near the screen and listen to the difference. Even better, put on
headphones and listen thru a microphone.
