I'm addicted to BIAB, it's my favourite practising tool! With 'biab' you can
bring variation
to your practise routines: slowed down or up-tempo, only certain parts of the
tune, with
the drums only, transposed to another key or another style etc. etc. The
program even
has rather nice soloīst examples of mostly jazz greats; it's fun to hear the
program
generate a recogizable Django or Mark O' Connor solo. Gave me some new ideas to

work on....
There's thousands of free biab play along files free on the internet: over the
years I have
gathered collections of jazz-, pop, Irish-, Brasil-, Django-, Charlie Parker-
and
bluegrasstunes.

The notation window takes a little time to get used to, especially the rhythm
(mine is
standard notation only, I have Band in a box 10). A while ago I have copied
'Spain' from
the sheet music to get used to notating music. Writing down a fiddle tune isn't
easy
because for some reason you have to the put the notes too close together, so
they are
difficult to read.
Lately I think I get spoiled a little by Band-in a-box, because unlike a real
life band these
'guys' always play a steady rhythm, never miss a chord... After practising with
a tune with
biab for a while I now sometimes try to keep on soloing with just the drums or
the
metronome and the chord changes in my head.
I would say...get BIAB it's not even that expensive!
regards,

Pieter

Looking for some comments about Band in a Box? Anyone
use it to practice or make their own stuff? Is it any
good? Thanks in advance.
