I cut mine to what will be a good length so I can get 3 or 4 turns on the
machine. Then I protrude about 3/8 of an inch through the hole and start winding
with a string winder. after one wind, I bring the string back over its-self so I
have
part of the wind on one side of the hole, and part on the other. Been doing this
for over 30 years and it works for me. Plus it's easy. Just another method.
YMMV. Jim Warren
