Jim,
Did Oz use a lowered bottom 2 strings? In G, this
would be equivalent to G on the 5th, and D on the 6th.
(I.e. E, C#, A, E, A, & E, top to bottom.)
Do you know what string gauges he used? It sounds
like some of the tone of Oz's Dobro was due to the
tension of "over-tight" strings. I have heard he used
.018s on his first and 2nd strings, as did Josh, who
tuned them 2 frets looser.
