Hey Tom, I'm with you on the Elderly gig bag (Boulder Alpine Series).
It's awesome and very well padded. Someone (maybe you) on the list
recommended it. I did find that the 00/Dobro size was a little tight
for my Guernsey so I sent it back for the D size. Kind of nice
because I can now fit either my dobro or my acoustic in the case and
it's still smaller and easier to handle than either of the hard
cases. Ditto on carrying onto Northwest. Regular guitar case has
never been a problem. - D
