Subject:Re: [RESOGUIT-L] Travelite Dobro case on Musician's Friend
Date:Thursday, February 1, 2007  16:23:40 (-0800)
From:PHIL LEADBETTER <philibuster1 @.....com>

I have been using them for quite a long time now. I have
used them for airline travel, and they have done great!!
Most damage in flight comes from "deceleration" when an
instrument is dropped. The Travelite has lots of shock
absorbing construction. I think better than a Calton (IMO).
Now, a Calton is gonna protect you better if something gets
stacked on it, or runs over. But truthfully, I have had
several guitars broke in a Calton. The key to any hard/rigid
case is to pack the headstock compartment and any loose
areas with padding (or soft towels). If you do this with a
Calton, then you are usually pretty good. Given a
situation...I would always use my Calton with the empty
areas packed. I have been pleased to never have any airline
damage when using a Travelite though. Not that Travelite is
my preference to fly with, but it is good to know that you
can. It is also much lighter to tote.
