I play in D, and it's set up 1-3-1-3-5-1 (D-A-D-F#-A-D).

I think I'll give the D a go on dobro - I find it hard to sing in the
standard G tuning
I think its the way the tuning is set up 135135! - the D has that
bluesy tone as well -
as Pete regularly extolls......
