Once again I had a fine time in Dallas at the Texas Steel Guitar Assoc jamboree.
They are so...reso friendly, and have lots of steel, of course.
On the reso side of the equation Beard, Benoit and Adams showed all the latest
mind candy. The great Eddie Ortego (best "unknown" Josh player around) held
forth in the Benoit room and Mike Auldridge provided a number of lessons and
demonstrations in the Beard room....at no charge. Amazing.
Mike was cooking when swing guitarist Gerald Ross stopped by with his big hollow
body electric and those guys just wailed. Whew!!
Eddie Ortego, who learned at the knee of Josh Graves, just _nails_ the Graves
style and adds his own twist. I really missed him last year and just enjoyed the
heck out of his playing again. And what a nice guy.
And..if you are in to steel at all there were performances by Big E himself, Mr
Buddy Emmons.
Didn't take many pictures this year. There are a few at www.resoguit.com/dallas.
Flying out tomorrow.
